Israel Longoria Sr. Obituary

Israel Longoria, Sr. 1938-2020.

His life was well lived and he was well loved! It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grandpa (as he was known to his family) at Sierra View Medical Center on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in his 82nd year.

This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man of God has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 62 years Juanita (née Rodriguez) and his children Israel Jr. (Rita), Ernie, Abel (Amanda) and René.

Family was the pivotal essence of Israel’s life. He was proud and honored to be the patriarch, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to our family. He had been a major presence in the lives of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as to his own brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was a proud grandfather to Ian (Annie), Samantha (Brandon), Sierra (Jonathan), Ty, Liani, Meranda, and Kelcie. He cherished his role of great grandfather to Jaiden, Serenity, Dean, and Harper.

Bron in Mission, Texas, he migrated to Terra Bella with his wife, Juanita, in 1964. Israel spent his life as a hardworking, dedicated, loving, and faithful man. He believed in the resurrection hope and told others about God’s Kingdom. He was a Sabbath School teacher and Head Elder of the Porterville Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Grandpa will be forever remembered for his beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace, and unconditioned love. He was a good friend to all and would give his shirt for a friend.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is sleeping peacefully in his Savior Jesus Christ and await the hope of the resurrection when he will see a new day!

Israel is preceded in death by his son, Rolando “Rolo”, and brother Elijio “Lee”.

He is survived by his siblings, Norma (Lupe), Minerva (Lacho), Melchor Jr., Paula (David), and Ruebn (Belle).
