On Jan. 31, 2021 our brother Robert (Bobby) Herrera entered into eternal life. He was the youngest of 16 children of Jose Leon and Rita Chagolla Herrera. Although born in Riverside, CA on Aug. 17, 1958, Bobby was a life-time Lindsay resident, attended Lindsay High and received his high school diploma from a Migrant Education Program called HEP at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Ca. Bobby received an associate degree in social science from COS, then transferred to CSU Fresno to pursue a history degree. He was involved in the Victory Outreach ministry in Hanford, CA, recruiting men into the recovery homes. Being the youngest, he was a caregiver to his father, mother and older brother in the final stages of their life. For the past ten years, Bobby was also a member of La Puerta Abierta church in Lindsay, Ca., volunteering his time to the church; he brought many people to the Lord. He would drive them to church service or recovery homes to hear the word of the Lord. Bobby was known as the family’s prayer warrior. He was an excellent chess player and a strong supporter of the nation of Israel. He was very generous with a great sense of humor. This past year he took classes online to learn the Hebrew language. He loved history. Another of his strong interests was watching boxing and could tell you the history of the sport and its champions. There will be a huge void.
He’s survived by his siblings Mercy (Jacinto Gardea) and Michael Herrera of Lindsay and numerous nieces and nephews. He is now in the company of his parents, sisters Dolores Diaz, Mary Helen and Josie Herrera, as well as ten brothers: Johnny, Lalo, Chano, Joe, Lupe, Frank, Peter, Jess, Ralph, and Richie Herrera. The family is grateful to the staff at DaVita Visalia at Home PD for the wonderful care given to Bobby during the past five years; we are also grateful to the medical staff at Kaweah Delta Hospital for the care they gave our brother during his last stay on earth due to COVID. Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 pm at La Puerta Abierta located 865 E. Hermosa St., Lindsay, Ca.
